Most girls dream about meeting Brad Pitt or George Clooney. Today, I met someone who to me was more exciting than any superstar--Pablo De La Hoya, the CEO of the Stem Cell Institute!

It is strange, something that is so powerful and can change lives so dramatically exists here at this very unassuming location in Panama City, Panama. I watch in amazement as these doctors work, getting ready to inject Ken with his miracle "potion". They are unpretentious, kind, and helpful. Do they not know that it is because of their work that our lives have changed--that Ken has a future--that we can live a normal life?

Pablo De La Hoya is a man that I admire the most in the world--the leader of the champion of stem cell clinics, the Stem Cell Institute. Because of him and others who work at the Stem Cell Institute, we have this amazing treatment. I am impressed with the nerve and fortitude it takes to face up to the pressures of this type of job day after day.

As I wait for Ken's first stem cell injection tomorrow, I reflect back on where we were just two short years ago. We didn't know if stem cells were going to work. Not many people had done it for autism then (less than 100, probably less than 50). We knew it was safe, adult stem cells have been studied and tested for over 40 years. We knew that we would be out a lot of money if it didn't work. We knew we would always wonder "what if..." if we didn't try...

I will never go back to being an ordinary person. I am jealous of ordinary people. You have it good, you don't know how hard it is, nor would I wish that knowledge on you.

To those of you wondering if stem cells are right for your child, get with it. No one is going to fix your child. You need to do it yourself. No doctor cares about your child. It is your responsibility. Before stem cells, we spent three hours a day in a hyperbaric chamber with Kenneth. Fourth Stem Cell Treatment Next Week!

Ken will have his fourth umbilical cord blood stem cell injection next week. I want to thank the Stem Cell Institute for having this kind of treatment for autism. The Stem Cell Institute is the best clinic in the world for stem cell treatments. Also, I want to thank Daniel Faiella for first sharing his story about his son, Matthew. Without him, we would never have known about stem cells. Daniel's son was the first child to do this for autism...

Kenneth is a miracle. That word, I use a lot. It is true. His evaluations just came back--he is testing like a typical ten year old boy for conversation. The gaps are closing. Soon, other areas in his life will catch up. He has to work hard. I told his teachers to double up his work so that he can learn the concepts faster. They said they would do this (phew). They said this is his best year and he is so cute with his plans for his future...

He is happy to learn that if he ever gets a cavity, he can fix it with lots of cod liver oil. Someday, he wants to marry his girlfriend and have three kids. When he is at my sisters, he is glad to count the hours he stays (six), but wishes he could go to my shows (and what were they about?). Kenneth can clarify if I misunderstand his speech, for sure, that the mean teacher is Mrs. Morris, in Florida and Mrs. Norris is the speech teacher here in Maine (remember, he is going to be Mrs. Morris' boss when he grows up and fire her because she is so mean, lol)...

Everyday, the changes in my son are remarkable. At age eight, before stem cells, he could not speak to me, tell me how his day was--he screamed, fought, ran away, took off his clothes in public, too many to list. I never want to go back to autism before stem cells...

Waiting For Stem Cells...

Ken and I are waiting for his appointment at 3:00 today. This will be Ken's third stem cell treatment. His first treatment was when he was eight years old, back in 2009. Ken's second treatment was when he was nine years old last year, 2010. Ken is almost ten, now.

Excitement and nervousness comsume us as we wait for this cutting edge "cure" for Ken! It is the closest thing for an autism cure that we have found. Pray that this treatment gives him great results, like all of the others...

Today At The Stem Cell Institute

Kenneth and I had a great morning. We went to the Stem Cell Institute with one of my Facebook friends, who I had never met. She has been raising money for her son for a while and this is his first treatment!

Ken got his preliminary bloodwork done today by his favorite doctor, Dr. Hernandez. Dr. Hernandez does a fabulous job with kids and it only took a few seconds to draw his blood. It was very uneventful and quick!

Tomorrow, Ken will get his first infusion for this round of stem cells!!!!! RECOVERY!

This clinic is so great and their work with stem cells is the best in the world. No other clinic is like the Stem Cell Institute--they are one of the best in the world, and we are really excited to be able to come here and have a chance and healing our son. Thank you, God, for being so gracious to us to give us this opportunity!

We Boil Three Chickens A Week! Is That Legal?

As things start to slow down and we are left inside for the long Maine winter, I have had time to contemplate Ken's diet. We have decided to put the kids back on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Now, I search out my mom, who is almost 80, and ask her how to make a chicken soup. Not so common for someone my age to know how to do. I have only made about 5 chicken soups in my life and non of them came out like mom's. This week, however, I followed her instructions and now consider myself an expert! The kids look forward to drinking chicken broth--and so do I!

Meat and fish stocks provide building blocks for the rapidly growing cells of the gut lining and they have a soothing effect on any areas of inflammation in the gut. That is why they aid digestion and have been known for centuries as healing folk remedies for the digestive tract. Do not use commercially available soup stock granules... or bullion cubes, they are highly processed and are full of detrimental ingredients. Chicken stock is particularly gentle on the stomach and is very good to start from.

Right now, I am boiling about three chickens a week...Is that legal? It is so delicious--with my mom's secret ingredient...

The Amazing Benefits of Drinking Raw Milk

We stopped to get a sandwich at a little restaurant on the way to Greenville. The kids each picked out chocolate milk to drink. As they took their first sips, their noses wrinkled up. "Yuck!" they all cried.

The kids love raw milk so much, they thought the pasteurized milk was spoiled--they were not use to the taste of pasteurized milk.

We always buy raw milk, fresh from the cow--from an icy cold glass bottle--clear liquid on the bottom, thick cream on the top!

Reason to Drink Raw Milk #1:
Raw milk is a living food.

Unlike pasteurized and ultra-high-temperature (UHT) pasteurized milk, raw milk is a living food. Several of milk’s natural components including beneficial bacteria, food enzymes, natural vitamins and immunoglobulins are heat-sensitive. These health-promoting components of natural, raw milk are destroyed by heating and therefore not present in pasteurized or UHT milk. Indeed, most foods – milk included – provide best nutrition when consumed in a raw or minimally cooked state. While heating milk doesn’t change the mineral composition to any great degree, it does, however, change their bioavailability rendering calcium less absorbable.

A quart of raw milk from grassfed cows contains approximately 50% more vitamin E and 7% more folate than pasteurized milk. Moreover, fresh raw milk naturally contains vitamin C which is completely absent from pasteurized milk. Vitamins, like food enzymes, are delicate and are largely destroyed by heat; therefore, pasteurized milks are fortified with vitamins – and those fortifying vitamins are synthetic, laboratory-created versions of naturally-occuring vitamins. They are not treated the same way as natural vitamins by your body.

Raw butterfat is rich in Conjugated Linoleic Acid.

Meat and milk from grass-fed animals is rich in fatty compound called Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA. Actually classified as a trans-fatty acid (but a good transfat!), CLA offers myriad myriad positive effects for those who consume it. Indeed, research indicates that this substance is known to fight cancer (particularly breast, intestinal and bone cancers), hypertension and adipose obesity. If you’re sourcing your raw milk well, you’re only sourcing it from grass-fed cows which means you’re consuming this important fatty acid – something that’s missing from that factory-farmed, pasteurized and skimmed milk at the grocery store (and yes, organic milk drinkers – there’s plenty of factory farming in the organic industry too!)

Raw milk supports small farmers, not feedlots.

Pastuerization of milk was born out of necessity – as unhealthy cows from concentrated animal feed operations produce unhealthy milk. Cows sickened by confinement and an unnatural diet of grain and mash produce lackluster, thin milk poor in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients and rich in pathogenic bacteria. Sick milk from sick cows makes for sick people. Pasteurization kills pathogenic bacteria just as it kills beneficial bacteria. Rather than tackle unsanitary practices and concentrated feed operations as the root cause of food illness caused by raw dairy products, government officials instead mandated pasteurization. Such action allows industrial dairies to continue operating in a way that sickens their cattle. When you purchase pasteurized milk at the store – unless you’re careful about your brand – you’re purchasing it from industrial farms that promote poor health among their herd.

By contrast, raw milk is not produced on a massive, concentrated scale. Instead, raw milk producers operate small operations with fewer cattle spread out over a larger amount of space. Cows aren’t fed on feedlot grain; rather, their given space on fresh pasture and spend their time outside with access to shelter when they need it – as in the case of inclement weather. By choosing to drink raw milk and eschew pasteurized milk, you’re supporting small, local farmers who value both their customers and their herd. You’re supporting sustainable agricultural operations not the dairy mega-industry.

Reason to Drink Raw Milk #7:
Raw milk is not homogenized.

Raw milk is not homogenized; rather, the beautiful fresh raw cream rises to the top to produce a lovely creamline. You can skim this cream for use in making butter or a beautiful panna cotta, or just shake the jar up to evenly distribute the cream into the milk for drinking. This cream and butterfat is in its whole state; it hasn’t been homogenized. Homogenization is an intense process that forcefully breaks up the fat molecules present in butterfat thus allowing them to be suspended in rather than separated from the liquid milk itself. This forceful and intense process leaves these delicate fats subject to oxidization. Oxidized fats contribute to heart disease, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Homogenization spells bad news for your heart and your body as a whole. Fresh, raw milk is not homogenized and so the fat molecules remain intact – wholesome and healthy.

Reason to Drink Raw Milk #8:
Raw milk is easier to digest.

Fresh, raw milk is easier on your stomach and digestive tract. Components naturally present in raw milk, but killed by pasteurization, enable you to digest raw milk better than cooked, pasteurized milk. Lipase, lactase and amylase – each enzymes mentioned above – work in conjunction with macronutrients present in milk – helping you to better digest the milk as a whole food. Pasteurization, by contrast, renders milk hard to digest. This is particularly true of the proteins present in milk which are denatured by high heat.

Leave a carton of pasteurized milk out on the counter for a day, and you’ll end up with a putrid, stinking glop. By contrast, raw milk will clabber as its beneficial lactic-acid producing bacteria proliferate and turn raw milk into a probiotic-rich, yogurt-like food. Bonny clabber is a traditional food originally from Scotland, though most peoples across the globe enjoy similarly clabbered milks through their traditional food heritage. Clabbered raw milk is not only edible, but particularly healthful as its sugars have been metabolized by lactic-acid producing bacteria and continue to proliferate. Since these bacteria have been killed by heat in pasteurized milk, such milk won’t clabber; rather, molds and yeasts will rot the milk. Moreover, milk that has been subject to pasteurization at ultra-high temperatures isn’t even suitable for cheesemaking.

Horse Therapy At Four Arrows Farm!

Ken rode his cousin, Acelia's horse, Honey yesterday! We are going to start horseback riding lessons for him--Equine Therapy or Hippotherapy . Acelia was a fabulous instructor and has been Kenneth's best friend since he was a baby. Ken loves Acelia!

One of Ken's teachers at school has a horse farm and is going to start offering this therapy.

Hippotherapy is useful for:

•relaxing tight muscles
•increasing balance
•building muscle strength
•sharpening hand/eye coordination
•gaining a sense of body-awareness
•gaining a sense of self-control
•gaining a sense of self-confidence
•improving communication
•improving concentration
•improving socialization
•improving patience
•improving fine motor coordination
•improving sensory integration

The movement of the horse moves the rider's pelvis in the correct way, while also stimulating other bones, ligaments, and joints. A horse moves a person in more than one way, by tilting, rotating, and moving the rider, which would take a whole session of difficult physical therapy exercises to achieve. Sitting on a horse improves core muscle strength, muscle symmetry, balance, posture, flexibility, circulation, coordination, and breathing (which also makes it easier to speak). The autistic are unable to integrate their senses and understanding of how their bodies relate to external forces and surfaces; hippotherapy can greatly improve an autistic child's sense of their own bodies in space. Hippotherapy frequently does not use a saddle, allowing the child to receive sensations from the horse's movements, which makes a child aware of where parts of his or her body are in relation to the horse.
The excitement of riding encourages speech when the rider wants to communicate with the therapist and the horse. Non-verbal autistic children have suddenly started talking when they use the horse's name or ask the horse to get moving! The last stem cell infusion was Friday. Already, I think we are noticing some improvements in Ken's speech and cognition.

In the office on Friday, fate destined us to meet a wonderful doctor. He was one of the first DAN! doctors at the first DAN! meeting years ago. He graciously shared with me what to do with Ken to help get him better. This was the nicest DAN! doctor I have ever met, but then again, is there any nice DAN! doctors? They are all overpriced, aren't they? This man was helping me out of the goodness of his heart.

One of the main things this doctor said was to keep Ken's body alkaline. No sugar, even from fruits or honey. I think he is right and will implement what he said starting tomorrow.

I AM OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCING THAT KEN IS READING!!!! He started really picking it up in December. Now, he will sit for a couple of hours going through book after book and reading most of the words. I think he is at a beginning level. I never thought I would see the day when he would read. Donald and I have no doubt that this is from the stem cell transplant last summer!

Brief Explaination Of Ken's Treatment

Our son had 24 million stem cells--12 million CD34 stem cells for the brain and 12 million Mesenchymal stem cells for gastrointestinal issues. These were from donated umbilical cord blood. The process for preparing the stem cells involves striping the cells of all blood product. This is the expensive part of the process. Kenneth had injections over a period of four days.

We loved the doctors in Costa Rica. Most of the doctors and the people setting up the protocol are all trained in the US.

There have been over 700 clinical trials in the US with adult stem cells. None of these trials have been for autism, but they have had success with other diseases such as Parkinson's, Multiple Scrosis, Cerbral Psalsy, and many others. Any thing good you hear about stem cells is all adult/umbilical cord stem cells. There have been no success stories from embryonic stem cells to date.

Adult stem cells differ from embryonic stem cells in the way that they will go into the body and have the potential to become any type of cell and they will seek out areas of damage and heal those areas. Adult stem cells will grow for a period of time, and then stop growing (maybe six months). This may cause the patient to plateau. Then, you may want to have another treatment, depending on how far the last one took you.

Embryonic stem cells on the other hand, will grow and grow and will not stop growing. They have the potential to become more of the same disease you are trying to treat or they may create new ones, such as cancer, years down the road. We are against embryonic stem cells and believe that it is taking another life. We do not feel that our son's life would be more important than another person's life (just our personal opinion on embryonic stem cells).

Don't Ever Shave Your Thighs!!!

I am the youngest of eight children, with a ten year gap between me and the next youngest. It was like having 7 sets of parents (half were married). My sisters-in-laws delayed the vaccinations for my nieces, saying they wanted to wait until their kids were older (maybe hippie philosophy)--this was the late 1970's. One of my sisters was a nurse. She gave me two words of advice (one I listened to)--don't shave your thighs and don't immunize your children until they are older.

There was no link between autism and immunizations at this point in time. I never did shave my thighs and am glad about that. I didn't immunize the children, either (until they were older).

It took many years and a lot of thinking to figure out what happened to Kenneth. Then it hit me one night--it all made sense--Ken falling off the growth charts, sticking his tongue out to one side, his high mercury levels...That time at the dentist, when Kenneth was six months old. I remember it vividly now, and it haunts me in my sleep. As I write this, I cannot stop the tears from pouring down my face.

Some old cavities had fallen out. Silver amalgam fillings. No big deal. Ken was six months old and nursing. I took him to the dentist with me. She drilled out the old fillings. He slept on the floor in his seat. She drilled my teeth for two hours that day. The mercury was vaporizing and you could smell it in the air. Ken was right there under this, breathing it in his fragile, six month old body. Mercury is much more toxic when it is vaporized. You could eat it and not be harmed like you could be when it is in a gas form. The dentist was kind enough (yeah, right, the stupid fatty fat butt) to let me nurse Kenneth during breaks in the drilling. The next day, I went in for more amalgam drilling. Ken slept again on the floor and nursed during another two hour procedure.

I tested Kenneth's mercury when he was 5 1/2 years old. Dr. Neubrander and Dr. Bradstreet had never seen mercury levels this high in any of the autistic kids they have treated at their offices (they treat thousands of kids). 9 was the high reference range and Kenneth's mercury registered at 95. We thought it would be very important to try to chelate him, to get out some of these metals. But his little body only weighed 29 pounds at this point and we just knew how very sick all of this mercury and other poisons were making him.

After Kenneth was exposed to all of that mercury in the dentist's office, many changes started happening in my new baby. At his next doctor's appointment, he had fallen off the growth chart. The pediatrician told me this was nothing to worry about. Kenneth was 7 months old, not gaining weight, not growing and this was nothing to worry about--well, you are the educated DOCTOR, so I had no choice but to stuff my concerns. Just a normal over cautious mother...

Kenneth also was not able to nurse very well anymore. He would often gasp for air and seemed to have trouble with the suck/swallow reflex. He started letting his mouth hang open and his tongue would rest to one side. He seemed weaker, not able to pull himself up on furniture like he use to or crawl around as well. His babbling never progressed. He developed a weird spitting noise with his lips (like a raspberry?) and he would make this noise all day. This lasted months.

Soon Kenneth's first birthday came and went. I looked at my baby, very tiny, not growing. He was no closer to walking or talking. Our pediatrician thought this was all okay. We went to another one. Still okay. Another. Okay. Finally, we found Dr. Clough. He listened to us and sort of helped. By this time, Kenneth was 18 months old. He had started walking a little. No talking...

The Miracle We Have Been Praying For...

As I look back through the years we have suffered with autism I am reminded how we, like many other parents, were left with no hope. We prayed to God for a miracle and felt that if he wanted our son better, he would just do it. It took us years of waiting, but eventually we did come across mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy and adult stem cells. These treatments have saved our son. This may be the miracle we were praying for.

We are already seeing tremendous things from the adult stem cell transplant. We believe, by God's grace, that our son will recover with these treatments. A non verbal girl from Florida can talk after stem cells, a blind girl has some sight after stem cells, and a autistic boy from Orlando is 80% recovered now after stem cells.

One thing that my husband and I are always amazed at is how some parents are satisfied with what they are doing and don't want to keep researching treatments for their child. Left Costa Rica A Week Ago

It was a week ago today that we left Costa Rica. We are pulling out all of the antioxidants that we can find, COQ10, Xango, blueberry juice, Oregon Grapeseed, Pau d Arco, Cell Food--too many to list...Kenneth is such a good sport about taking his supplements. It happened upon a stroke of luck three years ago that he learned to swallow pills--Philip and his friend were swallowing tick tacs and Kenneth was coping them--hence, he swallowed pills ever since. Kenneth will even take a teaspoon of cod liver oil for me every day. He really does well!

Things Are Happening!

Okay, I just have to say this--"THINGS ARE HAPPENING". It is official. There is a huge improvement in speech, already. Words are clearer and he is talking up a storm EVERYWHERE he goes. Leaving No Stone Unturned...

Donald and I are not going to leave any stones unturned when it comes to our children. We will fight until the end to take Ken as far as we can, and, if God is willing, this will be recovery. We will take the road less traveled and look for answers to their health problems. We will not stop at closed doors, but look for other doors to be opened. Ok, we are finally leaving Boston. The latest delay, I am very excited to report, was Kenneth. He just woke up and it is 1:45 in the afternoon. Daniel Faiella told me that the little girl from Orlando also slept a lot after her stem cell transplant. This is a wonderful thing! Snore away!

A lot of you have been emailing me about whether we will need to take Ken back to Costa Rica for more adult stem cells. The answer is, "yes". One of the reasons for this is because of the differences between adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are very powerful and dangerous cells. Once injected in the body, these cells work quickly to repair damaged areas, but the trouble is they will not stop there. Embryonic stem cells keep growing, often becoming tumors and other things in the body, a lot of which we don't know about yet. There is the potential for trouble down the road with embryonic stem cells.

Adult stem cells, on the other hand, will stop growing--they work sort of like the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. The cells in got in Costa Rica will grow for a while, take Kenneth to a certain level of recovery, and then stop growing (at about six months). The next few months we will work on reading/math skills, to help train his new cellss (an MS patient would add lots of physical therapy to help their cells). So, after about six months, you would want to go back for more adult stem cells to take your child to the next level of recovery.

While in Costa Rica, we met some really wonderful people (most of whom had family with autism). Here is how odd our experiences went. One couple in the hot tub lived in Bangor until they were 20.

Then, at the airport, we kept running into this really cute baby (and her parents) for two days (we were at the San Jose airport since Friday night at 10 pm until Sunday at 1 pm--had to keep checking flights and the 10 minute trip to the hotel was two hours because of construction).

Yesterday, I felt the need to explain to this cute baby's mom how my son had autism and that is why he was naked a screaming on top of the volcano display in the airport. We told her how we were in Costa Rica for an adult stem cell transplant. She told us that her friend was a doctor who did this. And it was one of Ken's doctor's at the clinic. This cute baby's mom could have donated her baby's cord to the clinic, but it didn't work out for them at that time. Needless to say, they are going to donate the next cord. We talked for a while and learned so much about stem cells and the clinic. It was really weird to meet these people at the airport!

A Brand New Boy With Brand New Adult Stem Cells

We are just coming back from our first treatment at the clinic in Costa Rica with our brand new boy and his brand new adult stem cells. I am actually using the internet on the plane right now (I didn't know this was possible).

Donald and I loved the doctors, especially Dr. Lara. I was surprised how Kenneth was upset when Dr. Lara wasn't there one day to do the transplant. Ken questioned him, "Where were you yesterday?" It was very funny to hear his "new" ways of communicating. I can't exactly say what is different. More words in each sentence, or more common sense types of conversation, but something is different.

Dr. Lara is a very kind, caring man and you can tell he is doing this because he loves his patients and what he does. We were very happy with the clinic Costa Rica. The clinic was right beside our hotel parking lot.

Ken is definately talking up a storm. He is approaching everyone and telling them all of his adventures--very funny, for us. We are really in awe at all of the conversations he is making. Is it from the excitement of the trip, or the stem cells?

Swam In The Pacific Ocean...

We drove over some volcano to reach the Pacific Ocean today. Philip and Kenneth toured a butterfly farm with lots of blue butterflies and poisonous tree frogs. The monkey loved Ken and kept jumping on his back and hugging him. I will never go to these places again. The roads are deadly, with 5000 foot drops on either side of a small winding road, traveled by huge trucks that speed and pass in deadly corners.

Kenneth has been talking a lot more. He seems to have a lot to say. I wouldn't say that this is the stem cells, yet. We are in some dive of a hotel, put up by Spirit Airlines. I hope Ken's stem cells don't die from the dirty room...hopefully, the airlines will fly us home tomorow. I miss the USA!

Ken will get his last adult stem cell treatment this morning. This has been a very exciting trip. It does not seem real yet that we are actully here and able to do this for our son...it would be a miracle. We leave Costa Rica tonight at midnight--another long day of travel. From Boston, we will rent a car. I WILL BE BRINGING HOME A BRAND NEW BOY--can you believe that?

Today Is Kenneth's Third Treatment With Adult Stem Cells!

Today is Ken's third treatment with the adult stem cells. We have not seen anything new, yet. The stem cells take 24 hours to attach and multiply. It could take six weeks to six months before we see anything new. One girl who came here six weeks ago with her non-verbal son says that her son is now actually saying words--for the first time since his MMR vaccine at 18 months!

We will attempt to drive to the beach today. Yesterday my life flashed before my eyes as we drove to the rain forest. I made Donald turn around, the driving was so dangerous, with big trucks speeding/passing.

Someone just came up to Ken in the lobby and asked him to be quiet (hehehe, you know where this is going). He told her to, "SHUT UP!!!" lol. She told Donald that he had a monster (not to be confused with Monster-line, who is in Maine at Grammy's). I feel bad for these poor people who comment and then we try to politely explain that he has autism. I think Ken is still chasing her around the lobby...

Costa Rica is fantastic (GET ME OUT OF HERE)...It is so amazing what they are doing with these adult stem cells. There is a man here to have an adult stem cell transplant for hearing. We have met such nice people, most here to treat MS, some are staying a month for treatments. Donald is a wild man, he is now Spanish and can leap a tall building in a single bound with our rental car...

Kenneth is talking in more complex sentences. It is hard to say what this is from at this point. I tend to not think that it is the stem cells. He will ask Philip questions, like, "Ok, Philip. I want 100 black puppies and I am going to name my puppy Blacky. How many big black dogs do you want? One hundred, two hundred, or what? What are you going to name your black dog?"

Then, he will look at Philip until he gets an answer. He is so interested in what Philip will say. It is really cute.

We are in Costa Rica and Kenneth will be getting his first adult stem cell injection this morning. I wanted to list a few of his symptoms so that we can get a better understanding of his progress.

Kenneth Kelley, age 8

Behavior:
Screaming

Aggressive

Giggles/Silly/Inappropriate With His Brother Or New People--will show off, be loud, obnoxious, demand attention, scream, jump on furniture, throw things, crawl on the floor, get under furniture, take off his clothes, get under the seats on the school bus

Runs around, destructive--will throw things on the floor when insulted or run away into the woods outside--sometimes will take baby sister with him and lead her to the road while laughing
Screams very loudly, will scream from morning until night, thinks it is funny--likes it when you respond negatively to the screaming, encourages him to scream louder and closer to your face

Screams and is uncooperative while being dressed--it is very hard to dress him because he screams so loud. This is very painful and my husband and I have headaches everyday from his screaming. We have to wrestle him to get him dressed. Also, we have to chase him throughout dressing him, as he bolts out the door every 5-10 seconds.

Very smelly bowel movements. He urinates and has bowel movements in his diaper.

Kenneth has started hitting my husband and his older brother. He will not stop fighting. He often yells at family and strangers to "shut up". This happens every half hour through out the day

Speech:

Kenneth has the vocabulary of a four year old. He can talk, but it is difficult for strangers to understand him.

Some questions, he does not understand like why, when, or how questions.

Physical:

Kenneth's body is the size of a five year old.

Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

One of the first therapies we tried was the mild hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Dr. Neubrander had his brother, Rick, fly to Florida to train us in this chamber. After just six hours of training, Ken went to school and traced the alphabet from A-Z by HIMSELF for the first time in his life. This was just the beginning of all the amazing things we would see with the chamber. We spend three hours a day in the chamber during his sessions. In a two years time, we now have over 700 hours. This has been a great therapy for Ken!

The picture below shows how we eat here in Florida. The fresh fruits and vegtables in this picture were purchased at a farmer's market and cost around $25. Ken is on the SCD diet and these foods are aiding his recovery. This is adding to the progress of Ken's journey!
